There is a beautiful desperation about ‘Breathe’, the debut single from London duo Dahlia. It’s as much a lament as a love song, an intimate yet unpretentious examination of the most personal of decisions.

It’s that decision that permeates every inch of the track, the heart breaking vocals of Lucy Hill imploring the songs protagonist to pause and take a moment while underneath, the track is always building to an unavoidable conclusion.

It’s an ambitious subject matter that would be very easy to get wrong, but with lyrics that bleed personal experience combined with the simple yet perfect production of Luke Hester, ‘Breathe‘ is mesmerizing from start to finish.

Dahlia have produced something truly special with their debut single, expect to hear a lot more from them in the future.
