Modern music is filled with re-imaginings of classic eras gone by and today’s track, from London pop duo Glass, does that well … mining 80s influences to create a brand new 2016 sound in the form of ‘Broken Bones‘.

In spite of it’s dark lyricism about a dying brother, the track is still danceable (like all good 80s hits were). Starting on a soft piano, it doesn’t take long before bouncy bass and a funky, outer-space sounding guitar line drops into the mix making ‘Broken Bones‘ the kind of song you want to wind down a disco with at 3am.

That elctro funk is effectively dispatched by the addition of session musicians from LA Shark who helped record the song.

Singer Jessica Winter will draw comparisons to Kate Bush but this is something very different to Bush’s music. This is like Bush fronting Friends or CSS. Pack that kind of sound with a live show (which is said to be very theatrical) and Glass may be one of the hottest bands to see in London this year.
