JAKE HART

In a world of crowded by bedroom producers, all recording their own tracks, all uploading them to their individual Myspace pages, it must be tricky to stand out from the crowd. London based Jake Hart, however, has done a decent job of carving out a bit of a name for himself. His interesting take on Lana Del Rey’s ‘Born To Die’ made many sit up and take notice, now he’s back with his own subtle slice of minimal electronica.

Minimalist aesthetics and bedroom producers almost go hand in hand, but here Jake manages to forge his own unique take on various influences – making for a track that feels genuinely interesting. Peeling and pulling at various elements from a number of genres, ‘Awake’ effortlessly swoops and glides from heart-wrenching, warm loved up electro to frantic, energetic and heavily reverberated guitars and percussion.

That expansive warm sound burns slowly, but nice and brightly, with haunting vocals playing against choppy beats. While the track’s gentle ambient atmospherics may quietly tempt you to sleep, this is one to stay up for.
