LOLA COCA

It’s been almost 10 years since Lily Allen dropped ‘Smile’, her ode to terrible boyfriends. Since then, there have been plenty of pretenders to that bubbly yet slightly damaged pop crown but it’s not until the arrival of Lola Coca has there been someone who actually deserves to wear it.

‘Bad Girlfriend’ is a furiously barbed slice of bubblegum pop – an adorable kitten ferociously ripping at the throat of anyone who dares piss it off. Aimed at “all the bad boyfriends I’ve ever had, and for all of the boys I have been a bad girlfriend to”, ‘Bad Girlfriend’ is as sweet as sugar laced with poison.

Fun, vibrant and catchy, with a splash of The Special’s Ghost Town, it’s a bolshie introduction to an artists who is clearly taking no prisoners With put-downs fired at a rapid-fire rate and tounge placed firmly in her cheek as a carnival of sounds whirl around her, Lola Coca is clearly making her play for that throne.
