The Ramona Flowers

The Bristol five-piece The Ramona Flowers are not in any way related to the supercharged lead girl Ramona Flowers from the graphic novel Scott Pilgrim vs The World. However, they are currently thee buzz band. Why? Well their music has had the critics flummoxed, from NME to The Guardian, as they have an uncanny knack for turning the electro-rock sound on it’s head and sounding stadium worthy with every single they release, including their latest single ‘Brighter’.

Brighter is their third single, released 2nd September on Distiller Records, and follows on from the first indie-electronica single ‘Dismantle and Rebuild’ and the more subdued ‘Lust and Lies’ which combines acoustic guitar with subtle electronics.

Brighter meanwhile breaks the bands model once again making it hard to pin point them as simply being an electro-rock band. The single is an infectiously opulent crowd-pleasing track, constructed more like a euphoric pop song, than an indie record, with beautiful resonating electronic flourishes and Steven Bird’s cooing vocals. The summer may be over but with Brighter you can re-live all those joyous sunshine moments for 2:58 beautiful seconds.

If you like the sound of The Ramona Flowers you can catch them live this month as they are headlining Generator‘s second Mapped Out tour.
