TWYAEN

Despite the mysterious, non-identity photo, the bizarre codenames (Moors Trekkah and ThutDragon according to their Soundcloud bio) and a moniker that I just cannot fathom how to pronounce, today’s tip is something to get very excited about. This London based project is brand new (the Facebook page was only set up on August 1st and there is only one song available online) though, as the name suggests, it came from Wales and is formed of “super-secretive producers and performers”.

We’re promised new songs once they finish building their studio, but for now allow yourself to obsess over ‘Keep On Waiting’. Its sultry sax-solo opening is just about the best intro I’ve heard this year; consider our attention well and truly grabbed, then. But what follows is just as appealing here, as the track gradually opens up and forges slow-beat percussion with gorgeous vocals, brilliantly subdued guitar and random blasts of that striking saxophone. Even if their elusive nature makes it hard to do so, make sure you keep an eye out for Twyaen.
