WAYWARD

London producer Wayward playfully offsets the vocal sample, which comes courtesy of Eddie Kendricks’ 1973 masterpiece ‘Keep On Truckin’, between the left and right ear from the beginning of the track, before the kick soon takes over.

It sounds like the producer counts soul, jazz, disco and house all as influences as a four-to-the-floor kick provides the dominant rhythm but organs drop in and out that gives ‘Love Jones’ a more jazzy feel at times.

With tidy little slow house productions like this from Wayward, the road ahead is looking pretty promising.

‘Love Jones’, which has already been blogged by Hypetrak, Do Androids Dance and Pitchfork, will be released via Aesop on December 2.
