Female Artists Rule YouTube

YouTube has revealed its most watched music videos of the year, in which eight out of ten were female artists. Katy Perry (pictured) took the top slot with ‘Dark Horse’, followed by videos from Iggy Azalea, Sia, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj and two nominations for Shakira.

A post on YouTube’s blog revealed the top ten, scientifically stating that the videos were collectively played “billions” of times from channels with over 55 million subscribers.

The only two male artists to make the list were, Enrique Iglesias and Jason Derulo with no British artist featuring.

Outside of music, it seems that a lot of people enjoyed watching people being chased around by a spoof of a ‘mutant giant spider dog’. The Gen wishes you all the best for 2015.
