Generator are pleased to follow up the release of Azekel‘s ‘Circa’ EP with the stunning single ‘New Romance’. Following support from Lauren Laverne, Mary Anne Hobbs and Tom Ravenscroft, the single has been added to the BBC 6 Music Recommends Playlist, plus the Rinse FM ‘A List’, along with plays on Radio 1 and Amazing Radio.
It’s heavy on the fuzzy, buzzy, and glitchy—and it may be Azekel’s best work yet.
Very few songs become mainstays just seconds in like “New Romance” does, stuffed as it is with ginormous bass trembles, sinister brass and a catchy ooh-aahs.
New Romance is a deeper, sultrier R&B tune, heavy on the bass from the offset, but retains that dusty element of half-remembered hazy summer days in the crackly outbursts of brass, piano and distorted vocals.
